- Tax and financial documents you send us so we can prepare a return or provide a service, usually through our secure client portal.
- Payment information: when you pay online for a paid consultation or service, a payment processor handles your card. We don’t see or store your full card number.

Your tax return information
Tax return information has extra protection under federal law (Internal Revenue Code section 7216). We use it to prepare your return and to provide the services you engage us for. We don’t use it for any other purpose, or share it with anyone else, without your written consent, except where the law allows or requires it.
Information about your dependents that you give us for your return is protected the same way.
5
How we share your information
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We share it only:
- With trusted service providers that help us run the business, such as our appointment scheduler, payment processor, email newsletter service, secure client portal and website host. They may use it only to provide their service to us.
- With the IRS, the NC Department of Revenue or other tax agencies, when we file for you or represent you with your authorization.
- With insurance carriers and enrollment platforms, when you ask us to quote or apply for coverage. Information you give us for an insurance quote or application is shared only with the carriers and enrollment platforms needed for that coverage, and is not used for marketing.
- With legal authorities if required by law or to protect our business interests.
- With other third parties, but only with your explicit consent.
6
Other websites
Our website links to other sites, such as the IRS, the NC Department of Revenue, HealthCare.gov, and the enrollment and quote sites we work with. When you use those sites, their own privacy policies apply, not this one.
7
Cookies, analytics and advertising
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to enhance user experience and analyze website traffic.
We may also use advertising tools, such as the Meta Pixel and Google Ads conversion tracking, to measure whether our ads lead to appointments or requests, and to show our ads to people who have visited our site. These tools may collect your IP address, device information and how you use our site.
You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings, and control personalized ads in your Google and Facebook ad settings.
8
Emails and newsletter
If you sign up for our newsletter, we send it through our email service provider. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can leave at any time. Unsubscribing doesn’t affect emails about services you’ve asked us for.
9
SMS consent and communication
If you consent to receive SMS messages from Triangle Tax and Insurance, you agree to receive tax reminders, insurance updates, promotional offers, and customer service messages via SMS.
If you text us first, for example using the Text button on our website, we use your number only to reply to your message. You won’t receive marketing or promotional texts unless you separately agree to receive them.
- Opt-Out: Reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe.
- Help: Reply HELP for support.
- Message & Data Rates: Standard rates may apply.
- Messaging Frequency: May vary based on user preferences.
We do not share phone numbers or SMS consent details with third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.
10
Data security
We implement security measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse. Documents you upload through our secure client portal travel over an encrypted connection. Please use the portal rather than regular email to send tax documents.
We follow a written information security plan, as federal rules require for tax professionals. It covers who can access your information, how our systems are protected, and how we respond to problems.
If a security breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as North Carolina law requires. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
11
How long we keep your information
We keep your information as long as we need it to provide our services, and as long as the law and professional rules require. For example, we keep copies of the tax returns we prepare for at least three years. When we no longer need information, we delete or destroy it securely.
12
Your rights and choices
You have the right to:
- Request access to your personal data
- Update or correct your information
